Tuesday, July 5, 2016Legislation to expand training for Alzheimer’s Disease care: VIDEO
Alzheimer’s disease impacts millions of families across the U.S leaving many with concerns about their care.
U.S. Senator, Amy Klobuchar (DFL-Minnesota) has introduced a new bill with health care in mind.
It would expand grants to public and non-profit organizations for training and support services for families and caregivers of patients with Alzheimer’s, so they can stay in their home longer.
“We want them to have the tools they need to take care of them and there’s all kind of tricks to the trade for how you can work with people that have this disease and make them feel more comfortable and having that support group of their caregivers to understand what’s working and what doesn’t work,” says Senator Klobuchar.
According to the Alzheimer’s Association, nearly 1 out of 3 seniors dies with Alzheimer’s.
